Position
Summary:
It is the responsibility of the console operator to ensure that the backing line is run according to specifications.
Console operator monitors all line conditions and adjusts heat, speed, crumb, and other raw materials as needed to ensure first quality backing.
This position will also be required to cross train on latex line and cutting line and will be expected to assist or fill in these areas as needed.
Educational requirements:
High school diploma or GED is required Skills and
Experience:
Previous experience with production of carpet backings required Good communication skills, verbal and written Basic math skills Fork lift experience preferred Meet license requirements for powered material handling equipment Essential duties:
Set up correct crumb supply options to backing line.
Work with crumb system operator to manage crumb levels for backing line.
Set specifications for each roll of carpet and adjust as neededCheck adhesive weight per process specification Operate fiberglass splicing machinePerform all start-up and shut-down procedurePerform weight checks and record resultsComplete daily production paperworkAssist with belt changes when neededMaintain housekeepingComply with safety rulesComply with environmental regulationsBe aware of departmental material safety data sheets (MSDS)Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
Perform other duties as assigned Physical demands:
Standing for 8-10 hour shifts Lift 50-60 pounds Corrected 20/20 vision Climb stairs and ladders 10 to 12 hour shifts as needed Work environment:
Climate controlled factory environment Some work on 2nd floor catwalk We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
