They also research and develop intelligence regarding criminal relationships.
Employee works under the guidelines of local, state and federal laws and ordinances and departmental rules and regulations.
Analysts are assigned to the criminal investigations section.
Direct supervision is received through the Lieutenant or Sergeant of that division.
Duties and Responsibilities The following examples of duties and associated tasks are typically performed by a person in this position.

Collects and reviews crime data from incident reports.
Secures information to assist in current case under investigation and in the prevention of future crimes.
Performs related work as required.
Teaches various classes.
Analyzes and interprets crime data to identify criminal activity patterns and trends.
Prepares and/or presents results of analysis to the Command Staff.
Creates computer generated maps on criminal activity based on chronological geographic factors.
Develops and tracks crime statistics.
Profiles suspects and vehicles associated with crime trends.
Provides statistics and related intelligence to agency personnel.
Determines what information to release to citizens in areas with increased criminal activity.
Produces daily/weekly analytical reports for dissemination to agency personnel, staff, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public.
Completes paperwork to include reports, and crime bulletins.
Collects, processes, analyze and disseminate intelligence products related to local, regional, state and national security.
Researches many sources of information to analyze and develop actionable intelligence.
Such material may include law enforcement briefs, websites and any other various open source material.
Analyzes collected intelligence information to develop trends, patterns and methods used by criminal elements.
Monitors groups who may pose a local or national security threat.
Responds to terrorism related tips from citizens and businesses and researches related tips, determines course of action and forwards tips to appropriate area for investigation.
Creates and distributes intelligence data to include briefs, bulletins, flow charts, association charts, telephone toll reports and analysis reports.
Attends neighboring law enforcement agency meetings and liaisons with the public and area businesses to gather relevant intelligence information.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skill in observation, fact-finding and retaining information gained.
Skill in the use of computers, analytical software and databases.
Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the geography of the city.
Knowledge of effective report writing.
Ability to successfully complete various crime analysis training Ability to interview and gather pertinent information.
